Mild Earthquake Of 2.7 Magnitude Strikes New Delhi

New Delhi: An earthquake of magnitude 2.7 hit the union territory and India’s capital, New Delhi on Wednesday at around 4.42 pm with the National Centre for Seismology saying that the epicenter of the quake was in west Delhi. 

Following the mild earthquake, Delhi Fire Services received calls about tilted buildings and cracks appearing in buildings in Jamia Nagar, Kalkaji, and Shahdara areas. However, Police said that no cracks or tilt were observed in the buildings.

A day before, a strong 6.8-magnitude earthquake jolted Kashmir valley on Tuesday night at around 10 pm with its epicenter in Afghanistan’s Hindkush region.

As per reports, tremors were felt in other parts of north India including New Delhi.

“Earthquake of Magnitude 2.7 occurred on 22-03-2023, 16:42:35 IST, Lat: 28.66 & Long: 77.03, Depth: 5 Km, Location: 17km WNW of New Delhi,” the National Centre for Seismology said in a tweet.
