Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the Kashmir College of Engineering and Technology at Ranbirgarh, Srinagar, on Thursday.
In his address, the Lt Governor stressed the rapid transformation in the industry sector and the need for stronger Industry-Academia collaborations to keep pace with the 4th Industrial Revolution.
“The speed and scale of change call for strengthening Industry-Academia collaborations. Skills, not degrees, will shape the destiny of our industries. The future workforce must have critical skills such as cognitive abilities, logical reasoning, and technical expertise to build future-proof careers,” the Lt Governor said.
He also noted the reforms in the education sector under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to promote startups, innovation, and entrepreneurship in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Lt Governor suggested exploring opportunities in the engineering and technology sector and stressed the importance of building capacities in line with the skills required for current and future job positions.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to the Lt Governor; Prof. Nilofer Khan, Vice Chancellor of Kashmir University; Vikramjit Singh, Commissioner Secretary of Industries & Commerce Department; Vidhi Kumar Birdi, IGP Kashmir; and other senior officials. Chairman Raja Aijaz Ali, Principal Dr Syed Jalal Ahmad, faculty members, and staff of the college were also present on the occasion.
