Srinagar, Feb 14: Colleges in Kashmir will resume classes on Saturday as a 50-day winter vacation period comes to an end
The Jammu and Kashmir Higher Education Department had announced the winter break on December 20, 2024, for degree colleges in Kashmir valley. The vacation period, which began on December 27, will conclude on February 14, 2025.
Degree colleges in the winter zone of ‘Jammu division’ (Pir Panchal and Chenab regions) followed the same schedule, while those in Jammu’s summer zone observed a shorter break from January 1 to January 10.
Meanwhile, over two lakh students from 10th and 12th grades will appear for their annual board exams starting tomorrow.
Schools in Kashmir and winter zones of Jammu are set to reopen on March 1.
According to the School Education Department, winter vacations for students up to Class 5 started on December 10 and will continue until February 28, while students from Class 6 to 12 began their break on December 16, also set to end on February 28.
Besides, the department has directed teaching staff at government high and higher secondary schools to be present at their respective headquarters from February 10 onward to prepare for board examinations for Classes 10, 11, and 12.
