Israel To Target Hamas Leaders Abroad: Report

Published

on

Israel’s intelligence agencies are reportedly planning a global operation to eliminate Hamas leaders living outside Palestinian territory, as reported by The Wall Street Journal.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has given orders to Mossad (Israel's intelligence agency) to execute Hamas leaders residing in Lebanon, Turkey, and Qatar.

Despite concerns about the potential violation of international law and diplomatic repercussions, Israel appears determined to pursue targeted killings abroad.

Since October 7, Israel has killed nearly 17,000 Palestinians in Gaza.

Netanyahu publicly announced his instructions to Mossad in a national address on November 22.

However, former Mossad director Efraim Halevy deemed the development 'ill-advised,' arguing that eliminating Hamas leaders globally may not eliminate the threat and could exacerbate tensions, potentially giving rise to more severe challenges.

Reacting to the announcement, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan delivered a strong warning against Israel on Wednesday over 'chasing down' Hamas leaders in Turkey, saying the country will 'pay the price' if it targets the Palestinian fighters in his country.
