Maharashtra, March 13 — A video showing scores of Hindu men in Maharashtra attempting to storm a mosque in Ratnagiri during the Shimga festival has sparked outrage on social media.
Footage from Rajapur in Ratnagiri district shows a crowd raising a large wooden structure and trying to break into the gates of Jama Masjid on March 12.
Police personnel stood by without intervening as the men smashed the gates.
Following the attempt, mosque authorities closed the gates.
AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi criticized the inaction, questioning whether Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis would allow the law to take its course.
“Sir Devendra Fadnavis, will the law take its own course? Shameful that a masjid is attacked in the presence of police,” he posted on X.
