Jammu, Jan 6: The railway division in Jammu was inaugurated with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha describing it as a historic milestone for the region.
While CM Abdullah assured the Railway would enhance trade, create jobs, and boost tourism in Jammu, LG Sinha lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, stating that such developments are fulfilling long-cherished aspirations within stipulated timelines.
Prime Minister Modi virtually inaugurated the new division, which connects the Srinagar-Katra rail line, marking a step in regional connectivity. The ceremony was attended by Union Minister of State Dr. Jitendra Singh, Leader of the Opposition Sunil Sharma, and other dignitaries.
The Chief Minister said: “With control and coordination now based in Jammu, local recruitment will be prioritized, bringing substantial opportunities for our youth and strengthening the local economy.”
“It would alleviate long-standing challenges like winter flight disruptions and high airfares,” he said.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha praised the efforts of Prime Minister Modi and the Union Railway Minister for prioritizing Jammu and Kashmir.
“Vande Bharat trains are set to reach Kashmir, and Jammu will emerge as one of the finest railway stations globally. More milestones are on the horizon,” the LG said.
