Srinagar: Democratic Progressive Azad Party chief, Ghulam Nabi Azad has vehemently rejected media reports stating that the veteran leader may re-join the Indian National Congress.

Earlier, news agency ANI reported that there are speculations that Mr. Azad is likely to return to the congress party as the talks have been initiated between the two.

However, Azad said that such false reports are being planted by a section of leaders in the congress party in order to demoralise my leaders and supporters.

“I am shocked to see the story filed by ANI correspondent about my re-joining in congress party. Unfortunately such stories are being planted by a section of leaders in the congress party quite now and then just to demoralise my leaders and supporters. I don’t have any ill will against congress party and its leadership, however I request them to tell these habitual story planters to refrain from doing so. Once again I would like to insist that this story is completely baseless (sic.).” he tweeted.

Notably Azad who parted ways with Congress earlier this year flouted his own party under the banner of Democratic Azad Party, recently re-named as Democratic Progressive Azad Party. The party name was changed when the Election Commission of India said the name was unavailable,
