BJP leader Yogi Adityanath, also the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, made a recent hate speech targeting the Muslim community, stating that the Adhaan (call to prayer) will vanish from mosques within the next five years.
Speaking at the Palghar rally, the Uttar Pradesh chief minister remarked, “Now, no one dares to offer Namaz on the roads of Uttar Pradesh. Mosques have removed their loudspeakers. Within the next five years, people will forget about the ‘screams’ (Azaan) from mosques.”
Known for his anti-minority rhetoric, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath targeted opposition leaders on April 22, accusing them of reciting Quranic verses at the graves of criminals and gangsters.
The campaigning for the 2024 general elections has been highly divisive, with members of the ruling party openly engaging in anti-Muslim rhetoric during public rallies. Earlier this month, PM Modi referred to Muslims as infiltrators and used a racist slur against the community.
