Baramulla, Sept 23: Baramulla Police have attached a double-storeyed residential house in Namblan village of Sheeri under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in connection with a militancy case, officials said on Wednesday.
The property, belonging to Aijaz Ahmad Ganie, son of late Mohammad Sultan Ganie, was attached under Section 25 of the UAPA during the investigation into FIR No. 37/2026 registered at Police Station Sheeri.
According to police, the property, situated on land bearing Survey No. 423, was found prima facie to have been used for providing shelter and logistical support to militants and facilitating unlawful activities.
“The attachment was carried out after obtaining requisite approval from the Director General of Police, J&K,” a police spokesperson said, adding that the approval was conveyed through Order No. 2695 of 2026 dated September 22, 2026.
A public notice has also been displayed at the property, prohibiting its sale, transfer, lease, mortgage or creation of any third-party interest, the spokesperson said.
The case has been registered under Sections 7/25 of the Arms Act and Sections 13, 18, 19, 20, 23, 38 and 39 of the UAPA, police said.
The spokesperson said the action was part of the police efforts to disrupt the logistical and support infrastructure of militancy networks and proceed against persons and properties allegedly involved in facilitating militant activities.
“Baramulla Police remains committed to safeguarding public security and taking firm, lawful action against militancy networks and their support structures,” the spokesperson said.
