Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday arrested two persons accused of drug peddling in central Kashmir Budgam and North Kashmir’s Bandipora and recovered cannabis leaves, hash from their possession, as per police.
“A police party of Narbal-Magam area were doing night patrolling near village Yarigund and signalled a vehicle (Load carrier Auto) bearing registration number JK01L-8141 to stop, which tried to flee but due to alertness of police party, the vehicle was intercepted,” a police spokesman said in a statement.
“During search, 21Kgs of cannabis leaves like substance was recovered from the load carrier. He has been identified as Tasaduq Ahmad Ganie son of Mohammad Subhan Ganie- resident of Yarigund.”
“He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized. Accordingly, a case under FIR number 157/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Magam and further investigation has been initiated,” it said.
“In Bandipora, acting on a specific information regarding movement of drug peddlers in Braripora Bankote area, a police party led by SHO PS Pethkote under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Bandipora laid a special checkpoint at Darmahama road and arrested one person identified as Reyaz Ahmad lone son of Ali Mohd Lone resident of Braripora Bankote,” the statement reads.
“During search, officers were able to recover Charas like substance concealed in a polythene bag from his possession. He has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Accordingly, a case under FIR number 45/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Pethkote and investigation has been initiated,” the statement reads.
