7 Arrested Over Mineral Extraction: Police

Baramulla: J&K police arrested seven drivers and seized their vehicles against illegal mineral extraction and transportation in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday.
 
In a statement, police said: “Under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla, SDPO Tangmarg & Kreeri, and assisted by SHO PS Tangmarg, SHO PS Kunzer, SHO PS Baramulla & IC PP Wagoora, the police parties conducted raids resulting in the seizure of 6 tippers and 1 tractor. The arrests were made in Kunzer, Shrakwara Shrai & Khanpora Baramulla.”
 
The arrested drivers have been identified as Bilal Shah, Wakeel Malla, Waseem Ahmad Thokar, Farooq Ahmad Reshi, Aadil Hussain Beigh, Bilal Ahmad Malik, and Bashir Ahmad Dar. Cases under relevant sections of the law have been registered at respective police stations, and further investigations are underway, reads the statement. 
 

The public is urged not to engage in illegal mining activities in any steam or River, as it violates government regulations. Those found participating in such activities will face legal consequences, it added.
