Kupwara: Police said that a ‘drug smuggler’ has been arrested on Wednesday along the Line of Control in Tadd area of Karnah, north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
He has been identified as Mohd Azam Choker, son of Mohd Ismail Choker and a resident of Nawagabra.
As per police, a piece of reliable information given by Police in charge of Tadd post, Mr Ayush Sharma the accused was hiding some illegal consignment of narcotics.
The accused was apprehended and put to sustained questioning in presence of the local Executive Magistrate, police said.
“During questioning, Azam disclosed that he had concealed the consignment at his temporary shop structure in a polythene bag”, the statement said.
“On his inputs, the police seized one packet of heroin-like narcotics weighing 650 grams from the shop”, reads the statement.
“Further investigation to unearth the whole nexus is underway and more arrests in the case cannot be ruled out”, the statement added.
