Kargil, March 14 — A moderate earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale struck Kargil region early Friday, officials said.
The National Center for Seismology (NCS) recorded the tremor at 2:50 AM IST, with its epicenter at latitude 33.37°N and longitude 76.76°E, at a depth of 15 kilometers.
While no damage or casualties have been reported, the tremors triggered panic with residents rushing out of their homes.
