Srinagar: Inspector General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar on Friday said three militants were killed in the Chadoora area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district along with 3 AK 56 rifles.
He identified one among the three slain militants as Waseem, a resident of Srinagar city.
"After the killing of Waseem of Srinagar, only one resident of Srinagar city is active in Kashmir militancy," IGP informed.
Quoting IGP Kashmir, Kashmir Police Zone said, "All the 03 killed militants affiliated with militant outfit JeM. So far one identified as Waseem of Srinagar City. 3 AK 56 rifles were recovered. After killing of Waseem only 1 militant is a Srinagar resident."
However, the identity of the other two militants is yet to be ascertained.
Earlier reports reached ‘a joint team of Police and army launched a cordon and search operation in Chadoora on Thursday evening leading to an encounter.’
