Srinagar, 15 February 2025: A Srinagar court on Saturday directed the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) to allow 22 students from The Islamic Global School, Padshahibagh, who had earlier been denied registration after their school was among those tagged by the Lieutenant Governor’s (LG) administration due to ‘registration renewal issues.’

Earlier, LG administration, through the Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK), ordered the tagging of several private schools, including The Islamic Global School, with nearby government institutions for the 2024-25 academic session, citing either their establishment on state land or their failure to renew registration, aiming to “save the academic career of the students.”

Following this directive, the Chief Education Officer (CEO) Srinagar formally informed JKBOSE that 22 Class 10 students from The Islamic Global School had been reassigned to Boys Higher Secondary School (BHSS) Natipora, urging JKBOSE to process their registration and examination forms.

Despite these instructions, JKBOSE refused to register the students, prompting the school management to seek judicial intervention.

Meanwhile, the court ruled that the refusal to register the students had put their future at risk as a large number of affected students and their parents were present in the courtroom, urging swift action.

"A peculiar situation has come before the court which warrants passing appropriate orders in the matter, as simply adjourning the case would ruin the careers of these students," the order read.

The judge directed JKBOSE officials to accept the students' registration renewal and examination forms without delay. “Since the Chief Education Officer has already requested registration renewal, it presupposes that the students meet the necessary qualifications to appear in the exams,” the court observed.

The court also acknowledged that the students’ forms had been attested by the Principal of BHSS Natipora, further confirming their eligibility.

A copy of the order was sent to the Joint Secretary (General) JKBOSE Bemina for immediate compliance.
